Subject: The Final Season
The Boston Philharmonic’s final show is around the corner.
This marks the end of an era for the organization, which has been active for the past 48 years. The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra will also be winding down operations, after 14 years of growing to one of the most renowned youth orchestras in the nation.
For nearly five decades, Benjamin Zander’s vision and leadership have cultivated a lasting appreciation for classical music across generations both in and out of Boston, guided by his belief that “everybody loves classical music, it’s just that some people haven’t found out about it yet.”
What's next for the organization and Benjamin Zander, and how will the legacy be carried on?
The Zander Center is his next project, which will serve as a hub for his musical education endeavors and a home for digital archives from the past five decades of his work.
The orchestra’s final concert will feature Mahler’s Symphony No. 9, a work performed at its inaugural concert in 1979.
